Embroidered Patch Necklace

July 17, 2014

P.S. – Have you started collecting your PSIMT x Indego Africa patches yet?

Our collection of vivid handmade patches inspired by Africa’s rich color and landscape offers endless DIY opportunities…but this week’s project gets the award for most inventive and unexpected. In the spirit of bold statement necklaces, we combined our favorite patches with colorful beads and a chunky gold chain to create a piece with big personality. Make your own and wear it with the pride of knowing that your creativity makes a life-changing contribution to the women of the IBABA cooperative in Rwanda.

Sold in sets of two, P.S.-I Made this…with Indego Africa limited edition patches are available on indegoafrica.org, and all proceeds go directly back to the cooperatives. Join in on our Colorful Mission for Good and learn more by watching the videos and checking out our behind the scenes coverage!

To create: Place gold and wooden beads onto a headpin. Use jewelry pliers to bend the end of the headpin into a circle then coil the rest around the base of the circle. Loop a jump ring onto the wire circle and connect it to the chain. Convert the chain into a necklace by adding a clasp to one end and a jump ring to the other. Pierce the tops of the P.S. x Indego Africa patches with an awl and link jump rings through the hole to attach it to the necklace.
