DEEP DISH HEART PIZZAS

Give someone a pizza your heart, get it!  Here is a cute and delish way to show someone how much you love them.  Get creative with sizes for personal pizzas or smaller sizes for a fabulous appetizer.  They are super impressive and don’t take too much time to make. Get ready for everyone to fall for these faster than you can say ILY!

 

Here’s what you’ll need:

Puff Pastry Sheets

Heart Cookie Cutters

Parchment Paper sheets

Cookie Sheet

Mozzarella Cheese

Pizza Sauce

Egg

Kitchen Brush

 

 To start, unwrap the puff pastry sheets. They take about 40 mins or so to thaw, if you don’t have time to wait you can thaw in a microwave. Set the microwave to :15 seconds and rotate sides until thawed. Once the pastry sheet is soft, place on a cutting board.  Use the heart largest cookie cutter to cut the dough.  Place cut pieces on your butcher paper and cookie sheet.

 


Use a smaller size heart cookie cutter and cut the middle out of another heart. PS- Keep the middle piece for mini pizzas!

 


Get the tips of your fingers wet and line the outer edge of the full hearts. Now that the overlap is damp, place the outer heart ring onto the solid hearts from the other pasty sheet.  This will help the pastry stick to one another.

Use your fingers to push the outside of the hearts together gently.

 

After you’ve placed all your hearts onto the butcher paper, create an egg wash to make the crust extra crispy with a glossy finish. Having a kitchen brush is essential to keep around. You will want to paint the egg wash on the top heart border.

 

For the mini heart pizzas, follow the about steps but use the medium and small heart cookie cutters!

Let’s get cooking! Place your tray into the oven for 15 minutes at 400F.

 

When the pastry hearts are finished, you may need to press down on the center part, so the outside crust stands tall and you have room for your filling. This is what creates the deep dish pizza effect.

 

You can either fill your pizza sauce in the bottom first or keep that for the topping.  Some people love having their cheese on the bottom and sauce on top, after all that is the way the traditional Chicago-style deep dish pizza is made.

 

Once your deep dish heart crusts are filled, place the tray back into the oven for 10 minutes at 400F for some cheesy goodness!

 

…And just that you will make someone love you to pizzas! LOL
