Roses are red…violets are blue…we brought Spring inside our home, and so should you! Colorful, fresh flowers are the best way to brighten up a room and your mood, and a thoughtfully crafted arrangement can stand out like an original work of art. We swoon over the intricate designs created by NYC based florists Putnam & Putnam, and love the way they elevate the game by encapsulating them in glass. We worked together to create this centerpiece that’s blooming with beauty. Whether it’s for a special event or just to liven up your day, get inspired and create your own!
To create: Submerge floral foam in water until no more bubbles appear (approximately 3 minutes). Use a knife to cut the foam into a small cylinder shape about 1/3 the diameter of the bell jar. Start to fill in the foam with small pieces of foliage (eucalyptus). Keep the bell jar lid next to the arrangement so you can have an idea of the size when building. Start to add in filler flowers (sweet pea & rice flowers) in a natural way with varying heights and in sporadic clusters. Add in the speciality flowers (ranunculus & hellebore) using the same natural technique. Try to use the biggest blossom up top exposing a long, gestural stem. Place the bell jar over the arrangement. The arrangement should last up to about 5 days. To avoid condensation, place the lid and let the jar fog up. Pop the glass about a 1/4 inch at two points on the lip of the glass and let bell jar clear out.
